What is our Sports Ambassador Scheme?
LSBU Active’s Sports Ambassador Scheme provides paid work-based learning & voluntary work opportunities in the form of sports coaching, fitness sessions delivery, recreational sport activation, event delivery, LSBU Active staff cover, and more.
As a Sports Ambassador, you would have access to training (formal & informal), continuous professional development opportunities, and networking opportunities in the Sports & Leisure Industry, supporting you to develop your knowledge and skills to enhance your employability prospects and career aspirations.
The aim of the Sports Ambassador Scheme is to develop you, as a student, as an employee, and as a person, to become more confident, more competent, and more equipped for the real working world once you graduate.
We welcome applications from both students here at LSBU and the wider community. The main recruitment window is September to October, with additional recruitment windows conducted in January and May, subject to recruitment requirements. Process for becoming a Sports Ambassador:
- Complete our Online Application Form
- The Sports Development Team will review your application, and if successful, you will be invited for an interview. Please note, the main recruitment window is September to October, with additional recruitment windows conducted in January and May, subject to recruitment requirements
- All interviews will contain a practical element, and are usually conducted in a group interview setting
If you are successful at interviews, you will then be required to:
- Complete the Sports Ambassador Induction: this will inform you of the Benefits & Work Opportunities that you can access, the Standards and Expectations required of a Sports Ambassador, and will include essential training for the role, such as first aid & safeguarding reporting, risk assessments, safe systems of work, manual handling training, emergency action plans, and more
- Complete Employment Checks: Confirm your right to work with the LSBU Employment Team
- Complete an Enhanced DBS: this is free for all Sports Ambassadors
- Complete a ‘Shadow Shift’: here, you will shadow a current Sports Ambassador to learn the expectations and requirements of the role practically

LSBU Active Sports Ambassadors can deliver a wide range of engaging sports and activities for all levels and abilities. We currently deliver across a range of School Sport sessions, After-School Club, and Holiday Camps.
