On Saturday 3rd February, Douglas Aikman, 1st year student from the School of Law and Social Sciences and LSBU Active Sports Scholar competed at the BUCS Cross Country Championships in Leeds. Hundreds of students from Universities all across the UK compete at this event and we are delighted that Douglas has had an excellent experience at his first BUCS Cross Country Championships, despite it being a very muddy event!

Douglas Aikman:

“BUCS 2024 in Leeds was a superb event, with a wonderful atmosphere and support from all spectators and event staff. It was inspiring watching some of the best runners in the country from all universities racing, before taking to the course myself to run the ‘long race’ of 9.6km. The venue was really challenging, a 3 lap course featuring lots of boggy, wet mud, steep hills and hay bales to hurdle. It was a race that was super enjoyable to participate in and challenge myself against some strong athletes. I felt I ran strongly, and was pleased with my time on such a challenging course, which I had not competed on before.”
